Completed our first race today, Pewsey to Newbury, 22 Miles. Freezing cold, in fact so cold the canal was still frozen and we had to carry the canoe 2 miles. Capsized with 6 miles to go, the kit from Nookie was superb, need to look at feet and hands to work out best way to keep them warm as the gloves were good, but i think in these conditions the wind chill is causing problems.

Got the tunnel out of the way, another milestone in this adventure.

This was a huge test for both myself and Ed as well as the support crew - thanks to Julian and Gail for sticking with us on this one, that was heavy going. A lot to think about and still a long way to go. Official time was 5 hours 46 minutes and we weren't last!!

At this pace, 125 miles would take us about 32 hours, we have some serious to work to do to improve on this. Have an idea now on kit, problems with the boat need fixing and I need a lesson on how to canoe properly and efficiently.
