Getting our heads back in the game
Following on from Fridays misadventure, it is now Eds job to get me back in the game, we have a foundation, a rocky unbalanced one, but a foundation that we can build off.
20 minutes at Shiplake lock. flat water, paddle to where the flow starts (200m), then paddle back, repeat until comfortable.

First outing
Having gone through various plans and information about the DW race from Ed, I was still under the impression this was just going to be a case of sitting in a canoe for 24hrs. I knew Ed and Jools had attempted the DW twice, once in 2008? and again in 2010, both times they got to the half way point and retired for a few reasons that I would later have a lot of respect for just getting half way.

The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon is a marathon canoe race in England. The race is held every Easter over a course of 125 miles (201 km) from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster in central London. It has been run since 1948. Starting at Devizes wharf, the route follows the Kennet and Avon canal for 54 miles to Reading, where it joins the Thames. Another 54 miles later it reaches Teddington Lock, ending 17 miles later at Westminster Bridge.
